Best place to buy engine/tranny parts?

Postby ChevyRidinLowtn on Sun Mar 14, 2010 5:05 pm

I got a new project truck, a 77 c10 with a built 350. I'm looking to get a 3000 stall torque converter. Where could I probably find the best prices? What brand(s) should I go with?

B&M = brand name
summit = generic

basically its purity milk or walmart brand milk

both are a good product. and there is only like 20 bucks differance.

I'm thinking I'm probably going to get this Holley 650 Carb for it.

The guy that I bought the truck off of didn't know what kind of tranny it has in it. I'm thinking it's either a 350 or 400 turbo trans. Is there a number on the trans somewhere that i can use to see which one it is?

It's an automatic, so it's probably a 700r?

3 spd automatic or 4 spd? A 700r4 is a 4 speed automatic transmission and a 350/400 Turbo is a 3 speed automatic transmission.

Look at the shape of the pan. That's simple enough and it will tell you what it is.

Scroll down a bit and you'll see what I mean.

if its a built 350 more then likely its a 350 turbo trans. maybe even a 400. only way i see it being a 700r4 is with a kick down on the carb but i have been wrong before.

Yeah, It's a 350 trans. I can't decide whether to get a 2000 or 2400 stall. My truck is a 350 with a 280-290 cam, headers, I'm getting a Holley 650 double pumper carb for it, dual exhaust from the headers back. I'm gonna be driving this truck daily alot, so its not a drag truck. Any advice on whether to get a 2000 or 2400 stall?
